As some of you may have noticed, I decided to change the page names and URLs on the Medical History section of my blog.
Instead of labeling the page according to a diagnosis, I’ve decided to list them according to the medical specialty that treats that diagnosis.
There are several reasons for this but the main reason is because science is evolving every single day helping scientists and doctors make it easier for doctors to diagnose and treat patients for their illnesses. Often times symptoms for illnesses overlap and misdiagnosis happens.
I have already experienced this twice. Once when diagnosed with Fibromyalgia due to increased intracranial pressure which turned out to be Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Hypermobile type and later with POTS and then later reclassified as having Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia instead.
I am hoping this change will help with transparency and help me accurately represent my medical history.
You can now find my diagnosis in the following areas:
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome : Gynecology
Intracranial Hypertension : Neurology
Hypothroidism : Endocrinology
Primary Adrenal Insufficiency : Endocrinology
Anhidrosis : Endocrinology
Mast Cell Activation Disorder : Allergy and Immunology
Gastroparesis : Gastroenterology
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (Hypermobile Type) : Genetics
Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia : Cardiology
When you became ill did you experience symptoms that made doctors wonder if you may have an illness other than what you were later diagnosed with? Have you ever been misdiagnosed? Let me know! I am genuinely curious as to how many people in our community have been misdiagnosed during their journey.
